| The illegal possession and usage of mobile phones in jails is one of the major challenges confronted by the Prisons Department. Illegal use of mobile phones by the prisoners, involved in high profile terrorism cases, create a negative impact on the society having far-reaching implications for law & order. To effectively counter this challenge, the mobile phone jamming devices have been installed at 39 prisons in coordination with National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC).
