Punjab Prisons remains committed to strengthening correctional administration through institutional reforms, infrastructure development, staff welfare, capacity building and modernization of prison management across the province.
Future Priorities
The Department continues to pursue strategic initiatives aimed at improving prison infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency, promoting staff welfare and expanding rehabilitation opportunities for inmates. The following priorities represent key areas of future development.
Strategic Priorities
Human Resource Development
- Fill vacant positions in the Punjab Prisons Department.
- Recruit 16 Deputy Superintendents (BS-17) through PPSC.
- Recruit Lady Assistant Superintendents, Stenographers and Religious Teachers through PPSC.
- Relaxation of recruitment ban against 4,124 vacant posts.
Infrastructure & Development
- Establish prison industries in District Jails.
- Develop sports facilities for inmates.
- Restore possession of District Jail Lahore land.
- Provide inspection vehicles for Regional DIG Prisons.
- Create the post of DIG (Training & Development).
Staff Welfare
- Enhance the Shaheed Package for families of prison officers and officials.
- Increase prison allowance for the Inspector General of Prisons.
- Amend Punjab Prisons Service Rules.
Rehabilitation
- Establish an Endowment Fund for long-term prisoners.
- Convert Juvenile Jails into Borstal Institutions.
- Expand vocational and rehabilitation opportunities.
Financial Support
- Provision of additional funds for PPSTC Sahiwal.
- Strengthen financial resources for institutional development projects.
Governance & Oversight
- Implement recommendations of judicial inspection reports.
- Strengthen transparency, accountability and institutional reforms.
