The Punjab Prisons Department is committed to transparency, accountability and public access to information in accordance with Article 19-A of the Constitution of Pakistan and the Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act.

Under Article 19-A of the Constitution, the Right to Information (RTI) is a fundamental right of every citizen of Pakistan. It allows citizens to obtain information on matters of public importance, subject to reasonable restrictions prescribed by law. RTI promotes transparency, strengthens accountability, discourages corruption and improves the delivery of public services.
