Central Jail, Rawalpindi

Central Jail, Rawalpindi was commissioned in 1986. The authorized accommodation of the Jail for 1994 prisoners whereas 4337 prisoners are confined here.

• Television in each room of male/female ward
• Play ground equipped with slides
• Also provide celebrating facilities to prisoners of religious programme and national ceremonies

Rehabilitation Center

National Book Foundation – is also contributing a great part in the rehabilitation and reformation efforts of the administration of this Jail for this object National Book Foundation has established a Book Corner in prisoner’s library, where in among prisoners membership is provided. More than 1000 books are provided by the said Foundation. 

Medical Services

These medical services are provided to prisoners:

• Two full time Medical Officers are available
• Facilities to check indoor and outdoor patients
• Free medicines and vaccination
• Round the clock supply of life saving drugs
• Heat Stroke Room equipped with A.C for patients suffering from heat stroke
• Operation Theater for minor surgeries
• Ambulances are available for emergency shifting of prisoners from Jail to outside Hospitals 
• Isolation cells for patients of infectious diseases
• Daily visit of Lady Doctors for Female Wards
• The screening tests of prisoners are under process with the collaboration of DHQ, Hospital, Benazir Bhuttoo Hospital and Holly Family Hospital, Rawalpindi
